COVID-19 Compliance Officer (C19CO)
Producers & Film Companies must hire a Covid-19 Compliance Officer (C19CO), who is responsible for compliance and enforcement of industry protocols on each production set.
The essential duties are sanitization, practices to make workplaces as safe as possible , create a COVID preparedness plan, conduct daily self-screening, cleaning and disinfection procedures, collaborate with Local Health Departments, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards and provide a copy of production staff negative test results to production company.
Cast and crew are split into different zones, based on the frequency of testing and ability to wear masks. The compliance officer is responsible for making sure these groups don't mix and has to intervene if crew members crowd together and masks slip. This person has the power to stop a production if there are concerns about safety and has the ability to discipline - or even fire - safety protocol violators.
Under the OSH Act, employers are responsible for providing a safe and healthy workplace free from recognized hazards likely to cause death or serious physical harm. Implementing a workplace COVID-19 prevention program like hiring a Covid-19 Compliance Officer is the most effective way to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 on production sets.
"Without this position, it would be hard for performers and other workers to have confidence that the proper protocols will actually be in place on set when they arrive.
